Hall Table Class
A small hall table that includes many of the key skills and techniques commonly used in furniture making. The project is suitable for beginner to intermediate woodworkers with a range of options designed to allow flexibility depending on the experience of the student.
Course Outcomes:
This course will cover both theory and practical components of the following topics:

timber selection, grain composition and colour selection
-
advanced measuring and marking out techniques
-
sharpening and fettling of bench chisels and planes
-
accurate hand planing of timber
-
machine cut traditional mortice and tenon joinery and modern domino joinery
-
machinery use to prepare timber and cut joints
-
a range of more challenging joinery options
-
timber polishing
6 week course:
The Hall table classes are 5 hours, once a week over a 6-week period.
Classes generally run in line with school terms (SA).

General Class Information
Classes operate from a purpose built furniture-making workshop, with separate centrally cooled and heated workbench room. All students have access to a full range of high quality hand tools and each student uses a custom-made cabinetmakers bench. The machine area is equipped with a range of well-maintained, professional standard machinery.

All materials and consumables are provided, along with specific safety gear (P.P.E.).
The timber used is all select grade, furniture making quality.
​
Tea and coffee facilities are available and students are asked only to bring a great attitude and a willingness to learn.
​
Note: Enclosed shoes, preferably leather, are necessary.
